Care + cleaning

Machine washable: Cold cycle on delicates, mild detergent, no fabric softener. The fabric is engineered to hold its compression and shape through hundreds of wash cycles.

Hang dry only: Do not tumble dry — heat degrades the compression knit. Lay flat or hang on a wide rail.

Breathable: The fabric doesn't trap moisture, so the belt stays comfortable during long wear sessions.

For foals — umbilical hernias

The WB FOAL belt is primarily designed for foals with umbilical hernias — a common condition in newborns where the body wall hasn't fully closed around the umbilicus, presenting as a soft, reducible swelling on the underside of the foal's belly.

The Recovery Hernia Belt provides gentle, even compression that supports the abdominal wall while the hernia resolves, and is often used as part of conservative management or post-surgically to reduce swelling and protect the repair site.

We typically carry one WB FOAL size in stock, sized for newborn warmblood foals (see the size chart above for the exact range). If your foal falls outside the WB FOAL range (different breed, older foal, or measurements outside the band), contact Jen and we'll spec a custom-fit belt with Vetoflex.

Important: Always consult your veterinarian before use — they can confirm the hernia is suitable for compression management.

Jen's dressage horse Dreamy went through emergency colic surgery and the standard hospital belt didn't fit his warmblood frame - pressure sores, bald patches, a horse who hated the belt. She went looking for something better and found Vetoflex.

What riders ask before buying.

How is this different from a standard hospital recovery belt?

Standard hospital belts are designed for ICU-to-discharge use - one shape, one size, get the horse home. The Vetoflex Recovery Belt is engineered specifically for the long recovery: fleece-lined topline to prevent pressure sores, breathable woven fabric, three production sizes plus custom orders, and a Stable + Riding belt pair for the full recovery arc.

My horse's belt seems to have gotten looser, what should i do?

The woven fabric will return to its original shape once washed. We recommend washing the belt at least once every couple of weeks with daily use to maintain its original compression shape.

Do I need both the Stable Belt and the Riding Belt?

For performance horses returning to work after colic surgery: yes, we recommend both. The Stable Belt has integrated the shoulder to stabilize the compression belt while the horse is on box rest, ICU, and the first weeks at home. The Riding Belt is built to wear under tack as the horse returns to work.

What's the difference between the Recovery Belt and the Hernia Recovery Belt?

Same belt architecture - the Hernia version has a pocket holding a breathable foam plate that gives pressure to the herniated area to reduce edema and further herniation.
