VETOFLEX RECOVERY BELT: COLIC

Post-operative recovery belts have a positive impact on horse recovery and significantly ease patient care. The method of compression the belt provides promotes the strengthening of the abdominal wall and reduces the likelihood of soft tissue edema forming around the wound. It also serves as a form of protection against infection within a stable environment. These belts have an anatomical shape, are breathable, have a pliable soft neckband, and a padded spine that allows for safe and comfortable 24/7 use. We recommend using the belt 3 to 4 months after surgery. In the case of pregnant mares, it is recommended to use it until the birth.

Belts are produced in various standardized sizes such as EXTRA FULL, FULL, and COB. Custom sizing is available for horses of nonstandard sizes.

How to pick a recovery belt?

PROPERTIES

Reconvalescent, or recovery abdominal belts, have been developed in cooperation with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Clinic of Horse Diseases in Brno.

The use of post-operative belts has a positive effect on the horse's recovery and subsequent return to sport. They significantly facilitate patient care. They have several functions: first of all, they protect the wound in the demanding environment of stables - this is the omnipresent dust and intrusive insects, compressive - they strengthen the abdominal wall and prevent the formation of edema of soft tissues around the wound. The anatomical shape of the bandages represents comfort for the horse when worn 24/7. The belts are comfortable for the horse, soft and the materials used are fully breathable. The bandages are easily washed and disinfected in a regular washing machine. High temperatures and disinfectants do not have a negative effect on materials even with frequent treatment.

Recommendation:

We recommend using it for 2 to 3 months after the operation, in case of pregnant mares we use the belt until delivery. The mare gives birth in it and we use it even afterwards.

Belts are produced in various standardized sizes such as EXTRA FULL, FULL, and COB. Pony and Foal options are available upon request

We offer both belts in stable and riding variant.

When the horse returns to normal mode, we recommend alternating the stable recovery belt with the riding belt. Take advantage of the opportunity to purchase a package of both belt variants at a discounted price (20% discount on the riding belt when buying both belts).

Product Care

+

  • The protective belt is machine washable at 60C, ideally using a soap solution and gentle washing cycle.
  • Do not use bleaching agents. It is also not recommended to use fabric conditioners as they can create a film on the yarn preventing direct contact between the product surface and skin.
  • Wash with all fastenings done, including all Velcros, to prevent possible damage to the fabric.
  • Do not leave to dry in direct sunlight or near a source of heat.
  • Avoid contact with organic solvents, oils, fats and salves.
  • Protect the product from damage by sharp items.
